Dear IKO Branch Chiefs,

IKO Kyokushinkaikan Black Belts are recognized throughout the world for their high standard of technique, strength and perseverance. IKO Honbu strives to maintain this exceptional standard and would like to make current Dan examination regulations clear for all our members.
The following is the guidelines for Dan examinations:

The 1st Dan candidate trying for promotion must be an IKO Kyokushinkaikan registered 1st Kyu Brown Belt with an official 1st Kyu Certificate in order to be eligible. Once the candidate satisfies the standards for 1st Dan, the IKO Branch Chief must submit the subsequent 1st Dan Registration Form to IKO Honbu in order to formally recommend the candidate for 1st Dan.
- IKO Branch Chiefs who are 4th Dan or above, may test his own IKO registered students pursuing 2nd Dan Black Belt. Once the candidate satisfies the standards for 2nd Dan, the IKO Branch Chief must submit the subsequent 2nd Dan Registration Form to IKO Honbu in order to formally recommend the candidate for 2nd Dan.
- IKO Branch Chiefs who are 2nd Dan may not conduct Dan examinations. IKO Branch Chiefs must him/herself prepare for and test to 3rd Dan as soon as possible, in order to provide testing and growth opportunities for their own Branch students - as stated in the IKO Bylaws accordingly.
